Riding the START Bus just got easier. START Bus has launched a new mobile app that allows riders to pay for bus passes with their smartphone. The app, called STARTpay, is available for iOS and Android operating systems.
The app allows riders to purchase fares via their mobile phone, without the need to pay cash when getting on the bus or purchasing tickets in advance. This includes passes to/from Teton Village, Teton Valley, and Star Valley. Users can select a single trip or a monthly pass and pay with a credit card. The STARTpay app currently accepts American Express, Diners Club, JCB, MasterCard and VISA credit and debit cards. It does not currently accept Apple or Google pay.
“Offering this mobile payment app was a logical next step toward improving the ease of use and accessibility of our system," said Darren Brugmann, transit director. "START Bus is committed to giving customers more comfort, control and choice in their travel experience."
To access this new payment app, users should visit the app store on any smart phone and search for “START Pay”. This app has an icon with a capital “S” in white lettering against a blue background. Once the app is downloaded users can fill out the appropriate information when prompted and begin to select and download START bus passes of their choice.
When it comes to using the mobile app, all riders are encouraged to have their phone out, app open and ready to show a valid pass to the START Bus operator upon boarding the bus.
