Police Blotter

February 24, 2020

We handled 33 calls for service yesterday.  Here are the ones that resulted in reports.

20022518:  On February 24, 2020, at about 12:30 a.m., Officer Lancaster responded to a report of a disturbance between several males pushing each other.  He arrived at the scene, separated the persons involved and learned one of the men had been harassing a female, which is what started the chest bumping.  As Officer Lancaster was sorting things out, the suspect fled on foot.  Yeah, we caught him after about a block and a half, and we did it wearing 30 pounds of gear.  Officer Lancaster is pretty fit and this 54 year old Crawford, GA man really didn’t have much of a chance.  We arrested him for Interference with Police Officer.  The funny thing is, had he just stayed and talked things through with the officer, he might not have gone to jail.  I guess we’ll never know.

20022578:  On February 24, 2020, at about 3:13 a.m., Sgt. Phillips took a report of Fraud.  He has taken several related reports that involve an artist having sold artwork, but failing to deliver the product.  Sgt. Phillips is attempting to work through it and we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

20022602:  On February 24, 2020, at about 9:16 pm., RO White responded to a report of a disturbance between a man and woman.  She arrived, but the suspect had already left.  RO White learned from the victim that during an argument, the suspect had choked her.  So far, we have not located the suspect, but we have the man’s name and will being doing our best to track him down.

20022605:  On February 24, 2020, at about 9:57 p.m., Officer Lancaster stopped a vehicle for speeding.  He attempted to contact the driver, but the man hurriedly got out of the car and walked away.  Officer Lancaster called for him to stop, but the man kept walking.  Officers had to physically grab him to get him to stop, but he kept trying to get away.  While attempting to restrain the man, Officer Lancaster noted he smelled of alcohol, slurred his words and also smelled like marijuana.  He and another officer were able to get the 45 year old Jackson man detained and eventually charged him with, DUI, Interference, Speeding and for not having a valid driver’s license.

That’s all we have for today, Jackson.  Have a great day.
