Police Blotter
May 26, 2020
Welcome to the blotter!
20052924: On May 26, 2020, at 8:42 a.m., Officer Traphagan responded to a report of a Collision/Hit & Run. It was reported the driver of a car, backed into a parked vehicle and left without leaving a note. That’s not very nice. To make matters worse, the man appeared to be impaired by drugs or alcohol. Officer Traphagan administered some field sobriety testing and arrested the 34 year old Jackson, WY man for DUI. He was also charged with Possession of Controlled Substances when we found pills not prescribed to him in his possession. A big thank you to the person who reported this. Who knows what would have happened had this man been allowed to drive away.
20052995: On May 26, 2020, at 4:49 p.m., Officer O’Donnell responded to a Disturbance. The victim of a stolen bicycle was on scene, claiming two men were in possession of his bike. We contacted the men and located the bike. Both men claimed they had no knowledge the bicycle was stolen. Anyone else skeptical about that claim? We were too, but didn’t have sufficient evidence to prove either of the two men stole it, so we facilitated the return of the bike to the owner. We did find one of the suspects to be in possession of marijuana, so Officer O’Donnell gave the 61 year old Jackson, WY man a citation for that.
20052999: On May 26, 2020, at 5:26 p.m., Sgt. Matthews was doing some follow-up to an unrelated case. While speaking to the person he was contacting, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from their house. He asked them about the smell and they admitted to having it. They voluntarily turned over their marijuana on request and Sgt. Matthews booked it for destruction. No citation was issued on this one.
