Police Blotter

Police Blotter
May 29-31, 2020

Welcome to the blotter.

20053417:  On May 29, 2020, at 4:15 p.m. Cpl. Jones responded to a report of Theft.  The victim apparently dropped their wallet in a hotel gym.  When he came back to look for it, someone had taken it.  Among other things, the wallet contained a couple of hundred dollars in cash and a $3,000 wedding ring.  Ouch.  It would be nice if the person who picked it up would turn it back in.

20053479:  On May 30, 2020, at 12:31 a.m., Officer Raab stopped a vehicle for speeding, 50/30.  His K-9 partner, Homer, smelled an odor of a controlled substance in the car, so he conducted a search.  Officer Raab found paraphernalia and trace amounts of marijuana, which he seized for destruction.  No citation was issued this time.

20053436:  Alcohol Compliance Check.

20053553:  On May 30, 2020, at 3:40 p.m., Officer Normand responded to a Dog Bite, which occurred at a local business.  The victim received minor injury and Officer Normand was able to verify the dog was up to date on its vaccinations.

20053566:  Alcohol Compliance Check.  (Failure)

20053582:  Alcohol Compliance Check.  (Failure)

20053611:  On May 30, 2020, at 8:32 p.m., Cpl. C. Smith stopped a vehicle for speeding, 55/40.  When the driver went to grab some paperwork out of the glove box, a black plastic container with a "THC" label nearly fell out.  Oops.  Cpl. C. Smith saw it and asked the driver and passenger to step out while his K-9 partner and he did a search.   He ended up citing and releasing the 28 year old Thornton, CO driver for possession of a controlled substance.

20053628:  On May 30, 2020, at 10:44 p.m., Officer Mattson was dispatched to a person sleeping on the sidewalk by the library.  When he contacted the man, he found he had a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear on a previous court date.  That being the case, Officer Mattson was obligated to arrest the 30 year old Jackson man and have him booked on the warrant.

20053630:  On May 30, 2020, at 10:57 p.m., Cpl. C. Smith responded to a report of Domestic Violence between roommates.  There does not appear there was a reason for the fight, simply that one roommate decided to start punching the other.  Cpl. Smith also found marijuana and paraphernalia in the home.  The suspect denied hitting his roommate, but admitted the marijuana and paraphernalia were his.  Despite his denial, there was enough evidence to charge the suspect with Assault, so Cpl. C. Smith arrested the 36 year old Jackson, WY man on both charges.

20053448:  Found Property (License Plate)

20053667:  On May 31, 2020, Officer O’Donnell responded to the airport checkpoint for a man who’d left a loaded pistol magazine in his carry-on.  Check your bags before you travel, folks.  Let’s make sure guns, drugs, ammunition and the like don’t go through the checkpoint.  Officer O’Donnell chose not to take any enforcement action, but seized the item which we will return to the owner at a later time.
