Police Blotter

July 2-5, 2020

Welcome to the police blotter!  Here are the report calls we took during the holiday weekend.

20070205:  On July 2, 2020, at 1:25 p.m., Officer Peery responded to a report of a Disturbance.  This incident involves both juvenile matters and mental health issues, so we won’t be saying anything further, except to say that Officer Peery did everything he could to ensure the juvenile involved was safe.

20070214:  Hit & Run traffic accident.

20070225:  On July 2, 2020, at 3:34 p.m., Cpl. C. Smith responded to a report of Harassment.  The victim reporting that a co-worker was calling and sending harassing text messages.  When the behavior escalated to showing up at the victim’s house late at night, they decided it was time to call the police.  At the victim’s request, Cpl. C. Smith contacted the suspect and asked them while also providing some much needed education on the law.

20070229:  Hit & Run traffic accident.

20070261:  Hit & Run traffic accident.

20070270:  On July 2, 2020, at 8:32 p.m., Officer Mattson responded to a report of Assault.  When he arrived, he learned a 64 year old Las Vegas, NV man had attempted to check into the hotel.  When the hotel advised they did not have his reservation, he became very angry and slammed his iPad into the counter, then threatened to come behind the counter when the employee began calling 911.  The man grabbed the employees wrist when they tried to read the man’s name from his ID off to dispatchers.  We’re hoping this man was just having an off day and this isn’t a regular occurrence.  Either way, Officer Mattson gave him a citation for assaulting the employee.

20070307:  On July 2, 2020, at 11:20 p.m., Officer Raab stopped a vehicle for speeding, 50/40.  During the stop, his K-9 partner, Homer, found an item of paraphernalia in the vehicle.  No other drugs were found, so the item was taken for destruction.  The driver received a warning for the speed, but that was it.  No citation for the paraphernalia.

20070468: Hit & Run traffic accident.

20070631:  On July  4, 2020, at 1:58 p.m., Officer Peery responded to a report of a fire along with the fire department.  It appears this fire cause minor damage and was caused by person(s) who discarded their lit cigarettes.  This case is still under investigation to determine if charges are appropriate.  We won’t be releasing any other information at this time.

20070641: Hit & Run traffic accident.

20070668:  On July 4, 2020, at 5:04 p.m., Officer Mattson responded to a report of a man walking around looking into vehicles.  When contacted, the 32 year old Jackson, WY man was talking and acting in strange manner that suggested he was under the influence of a controlled substance.  That being the case, Officer Mattson arrested him for Public Intoxication.

20070671:  On July 4, 2020, at 5:27 p.m., Officer O’Donnell responded to a report of a False ID at the Cowboy Bar.   You can’t pull one over on the Cowboy doorman though and they called the police.  Officer O’Donnell made contact and the man admitted the ID was fake.  Officer O’Donnell issued the 20 year old Las Vegas, NV man a citation and sent him on his way.

20070676:  On July 4, 2020, at 5:57 p.m., Officer White responded to a report of Threats.  The victim reported someone had scratched threatening words on a closet door in their home.  This case is still under investigation and we will be doing additional follow-up to contact possible witnesses and suspect(s).

20070804:  On July 5, 2020, at 8:34 a.m., Officer Blair responded to a report that a male subject had taken his mask of while in a business to protest the requirement to wear a mask.   The man was trespassed from the business.  Someone previously asked, how the police department was intending to enforce the mask ordinance.  We educate primarily and enforce by necessity, but we would prefer that everyone just wear their mask when required so we’re not put in the position to make that decision in the first place.  We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.

20070817:  On July 5, 2020, at 10:15 a.m., Cpl. Traphagan responded to a report of a dog bite.  It looks like the victim was walking down the street, minding his own business, when he was bitten by a dog.  Cpl. Traphagan located the owner and gave them a citation.

20070918:  On July 5, 2020, at 11:51 p.m., Officer Shreve responded to a report of Theft.  The owner of a $7,000 Evil Wreckoning mountain bike reported someone stole it from the back of his truck where it was securely chained.  Ouch.  He did everything right and a thief still got to his stuff.  Help a brother out and call if you have any information on this man’s stolen bike.  He would appreciate it.

20070919:  On July 5, 2020, at 11:55 p.m., Officer Lancaster responded to a report of a family disturbance.  When he arrived, he learned the disturbance was caused by an argument between juveniles and their parents.  No crime was committed, so no one was arrested or cited.
