Town Square Pedestrian Zones – Transition to winter season
In preparation for the transition to winter weather, Town of Jackson staff will be removing the seasonal expanded pedestrian zones around the Town Square this coming Friday, October 23rd.
The expanded pedestrian zones were implemented in June to help alleviate crowded conditions on the sidewalks around the Town Square and provide ADA-compliant pedestrian access from Home Ranch parking lot to the Town Square.
The temporary project involved converting Center Street between Broadway and Deloney to one-way traffic and placing planters and cones offset 6-11’ from the curb on the west side of the street.
The reclaimed space from the vehicle travel lane was then reallocated to pedestrian use and seating during the peak tourism period from July through September.
Staff was able to extend the project through late October as the weather was generally favorable throughout the month. Starting Friday, Center Street will be returned to two-way traffic and parking on the west side of the street will move adjacent to the curb.
