With plenty of SPET initiatives on this year’s ballot, the Town has created a webpage about all fifteen initiatives that will be before voters on November 8’s General Election. The webpage, www.jacksonwy.gov/630/SPET-Education, which is accessible in both English and Spanish includes general information about SPET and specifics on each current initiative.
The page explains that SPET is the ‘Specific Purpose Excise Tax,’ which is a penny of sales tax in our Town and County. It highlights that tourists pay more than 50% of sales tax collected in our area and that voting for any or all of the SPET initiatives on this year’s ballot will not increase taxes. The SPET penny is already in-place and will remain so until the projects funded through it are complete.
On the webpage, find links to sample ballots for each initiative and where to get further information. Find details about an upcoming Open House and various SPET-Forums hosted by different entities in the community where people can learn more and talk to representatives about each initiative.
