Special Workshop & Council Meeting | Monday, November 13
November 9 – Starting at 1:30pm on Monday, November 13 Town Council will hold a Special Workshop, scheduled this week to accommodate the holiday later this month. The meeting will take place in Council’s Chambers at Town Hall. Mayor Pro Tempore Arne Jorgensen will call the meeting to order and do roll call. Following that, Associate Planner Katelyn Page will present about required Bike Parking. Then, Planning Director Paul Anthony will present a re-evaluation of the Large Building 2 for 1 Workforce Bonus program. Next, Council will discuss priorities and upcoming agendas. The meeting will adjourn by 5:00pm.
At 6:00pm, Council will reconvene for a Special Town Council Meeting scheduled this week to accommodate the holidays later in the month. Mayor Pro Tempore Arne Jorgensen will call the meeting to order, do roll call, lead a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, and read the Town’s Land Acknowledgement. After that, Jorgensen will read proclamations for Lung Cancer Awareness Month and Small Business Saturday. Next, Public Comment for items not on the agenda will be taken.
Following that, Council will consider the consent calendar including meeting minutes, disbursements, October’s Municipal Court Report, temporary sign permits, and the Police Department’s Policy for License Plate Readers. Under Discussion and Action Items, Community Engagement Specialist Susan Scarlata will present Council with items for consideration related to a State Legislative Agenda and Approach. Legislative Advisor Andy Schwartz will also be present via Zoom for this presentation and related questions.
Following that, Council will consider readings of Ordinances about the following.
- Repealing noise from special events in the Town’s Municipal Code (3rd reading)
- Adding a bias crime provision to the Town’s Municipal Code (3rd reading)
- Amending Discrimination in Housing and Public Accommodations (3rd reading)
- Regarding penalties for assault, battery, and unlawful conduct (3rd reading)
- Repealing short-term rental provisions from the Town’s code (3rd reading)
- Amending Water and Sewer Rates (2nd reading)
As this is designated a Special Meeting, there will not be ‘Matters from Mayor and Council.’ The final item will be the Town Manager’s report, which includes information about childcare placement and the Town’s Personnel/Town Clerk Department moving to the garden level of the building to the east of Si Ferrin where the childcare center will be.
Both meetings will take place in Council’s Chambers and can be watched on the Town’s website or via Zoom. Public comment will be taken, and attendance and participation are welcome both in person and virtually, details below.
