Town Council Repeals Emergency Stay-At-Home Ordinance 1249
With Issue of Teton County District Public Health Order #4

March 31, 2020, Jackson, WY – The Jackson Town Council met today to consider the ratification or repeal of Emergency Stay-At-Home Ordinance 1249.   Since the emergency ordinance was enacted on Saturday, March 28, 2020, new information from the State has been introduced.   This morning Travis Riddell, MD, the Teton Health District Officer, issued a press release regarding Countywide Public Health Order #20-4 requiring all people within Teton County, Wyoming, including the City of Jackson, Wyoming to limit gatherings to only individuals within the same household. Alexia Harrist, MD, PhD, the Wyoming State Health Officer, authorized and directed the Teton Health District Officer to issue the Countywide Public Health Order #20-4.

Based upon this State action, the Jackson Town Council opted to repeal the Emergency Stay-At-Home Town Ordinance since Countywide Public Order #20-4 applies to all members of this community including both town and county residents.   The Town Ordinance was only applicable to those within the Town limits.

“I’m very happy to see this public health order coming out,” said Jackson Mayor Pete Muldoon.  “I do want to be really clear about what this county-wide policy means– it is telling us to not gather in groups outside of your household.”

Teton County Health Officer, Dr. Travis Riddell, who shared his perspective at Saturday’s meeting. “[W]e have seen mounting evidence that community-wide stay-at-home orders can have significant impacts on slowing the virus’ spread, particularly when implemented in the early phase of viral community spread. We are in that phase now. I am absolutely in favor of a community-wide stay-at-home order.”
