Emergency responders climbed the stairs of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 to save lives and to not leave anyone behind. On September 11, 2018, Jackson Hole emergency responders will climb Snow King to remember that selfless act of courage.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to join Jackson Hole Fire/EMS at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11th for a hike up Snow King to pay tribute to the 412 emergency workers who gave their lives on 9/11. Typically performed in larger cities as a stair climb, in Jackson it is only fitting to use the town hill. The climb will not be timed, but a way to honor and remember those that gave their lives so that others may live. Fire Chief, Brady Hansen, states “Jackson Hole Fire/EMS invites all members of this great community to come remember the fateful day where so many were lost. Let us never forget. Please come join us to remember that day and honor their lives.”
In addition to the Snow King climb, the Jackson Hole emergency response community will continue to hold an annual 9/11 memorial flag and bell ceremony. This year’s flag ceremony takes place on the Town Square at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11th.
