Potential Open Council Seat
On January 6, 2025, the Town of Jackson anticipates there will be a vacant seat on the Town Council after Councilmember Arne Jorgensen is sworn in as Mayor.
The Mayor Elect and new Councilmembers will take the oath of office the morning of January 6. At its Regular Council Meeting that evening, the new Town Council will declare a vacancy on Council and consider a proposed application, selection, and appointment process for the vacant seat. The Town encourages residents to consider applying for the anticipated vacancy. To be eligible, applicants must be:
- At least 18 years old
- A resident of the Town of Jackson
- A citizen of the United States
- A qualified elector
The appointee to the vacant seat, selected by Town Council, will serve the remaining two years of the unexpired term concluding January of 2027. The salary for this Town Council seat is $41,000 annually and Councilmembers are eligible for health insurance coverage. Town Council has four monthly meetings on the first and third Mondays of the month.
