Town Council Vacancy | Applications Now Being Accepted
Upon Mayor Arne Jorgensen taking the oath of office and being sworn in on January 6, an empty seat on the Town Council became available. At their regular evening meeting, the new Mayor and Councilmembers discussed and set an application, selection, and appointment process for the vacant seat. Applications will be accepted between Tuesday, January 7 and Thursday, January 16 at 4:00pm.
The Town encourages residents to consider applying for the vacancy. To be eligible, applicants must be:
- At least 18 years old
- A resident of the Town of Jackson
- A citizen of the United States
- A qualified elector
The appointee to the vacant seat, selected by Town Council, will serve the remaining two years of the unexpired term vacated by Jorgensen, which concludes in January of 2027. The salary for this Town Council seat is $41,000 annually and Councilmembers are eligible for health insurance coverage. Town Council has four regular meetings on the first and third Mondays of each month.
To be considered for appointment, interested community members must complete and submit the application with a resume, cover letter, and references.
