Corporal Smith & Officer Raab
During last night's Town Council Meeting 2 members of the Jackson Police Department were honored with Jackson Police Department's Medal of Bravery.
In the late-night hours of September 14, 2019 emergency services were notified of a structure fire in east Jackson. Corporal Phillip Smith and Officer Thomas Raab were the first to arrive on scene.
Corporal Smith and Officer Raab entered the structure to determine if anyone was inside. They were able to locate, wake and evacuate residents. They also successfully assisted a resident from the burning building unharmed.
Jackson Police Chief, Todd Smith, awarded these two police officers the Medal of Bravery which is "an extraordinary commendation bestowed upon a Jackson Police Officer by the Chief of Police and is awarded when an extraordinary act of bravery occurs."
Thank you to Corporal Smith and Officer Raab for demonstrating this exceptional example of law enforcement servant leadership and dedication to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of residents and guests of our community.
