Have some free time on your hands?

The Town is looking for volunteers to serve on three different community boards.

Letters of interest are now being accepted for the Board of Health, Board of Examiners, and Planning Commission.

See below for detailed information and how to apply.

Teton District Board of Health

A year ago, the County Commissioners broadened this board to include nine members, one of which is appointed by the Town Council.  This volunteer board is comprised of at least one Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Dental Surgery, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, plus those either working or are interested in the medical/health fields.

This board functions in an advisory role to the Health Department, in a governance role by appointing the County Health Officer, setting fees for services, enacting rules and regulations, and as an advocate for community health issues.

Although no specific experience is required for the Town’s appointed member, special consideration may be given to those with a background or knowledge in community, public, or environmental health and safety.  Applicants must reside within town city limits for this town-appointed seat. Board meetings are the 4th Tuesday, every other month at 9:00 am.  This seat is for a four-year term.

Letters of interest should be addressed to the Mayor and Town Council, Attn:  Town Clerk, and include information on your interests, background, and experience as it would relate to serving on the Board of Health, and your availability for attending board meetings.

Letters will be accepted only by email to sbirdyshaw@jacksonwy.gov. Letters will be accepted until 5:00 PM on Friday, May 1. For further information visit www.tetonwyo.org/563 or contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 733-3932 x1113.

Board of Examiners

Members of the Board of Examiners shall be residents of the Town of Jackson or Teton County, Wyoming.  There are two seats available for 2-year terms.

The BoE is made up of tradespeople from the mechanical, plumbing, electrical and building trades or others who have knowledge of such issues.  They assist with the Contractor Licensing program and reviews qualifications of applicants licensed in other jurisdictions, or applicants who have not passed the WAM contractor license exam, to determine an applicant’s eligibility for a Town of Jackson license.

The BoE also serves as the Board of Appeals as required by the building code, in order to hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions, or determinations made by the Building Official relative to the application and interpretation of the building code.

Letters of interest should be addressed to the Town Council, Attn: Town Clerk.

Letters will be accepted only by email to sbirdyshaw@jacksonwy.gov. Letters will be accepted until 5:00 PM on Monday, June 15. For further information please contact the Building Dept at 733-0440 x1352 or the Town Clerk’s office at 733-3932 x1113.

Planning Commission / Board of Adjustment

There are two seats available for 3-year terms on this board.  Applicants must be residents and qualified electors of the Town for a minimum of 2 years prior to their appointment and may not hold any other public office or any position within the Town government. Although no specific experience is necessary, persons with knowledge in planning, architecture, natural resource management, real estate, or a related field would be helpful.

Letters of interest should be addressed to the Mayor and Town Council, Attn: Town Clerk.

Letters will be accepted only by email to sbirdyshaw@jacksonwy.gov. Letters will be accepted until 5:00 PM on Monday, June 15. For further information please contact the Planning Office at 733-3932 x 1304 or the Town Clerk’s office at 733-3932 x1113.
