ADA Bus Service
START's widely used ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) or paratransit bus provides mobility to individuals with disabilities, allowing them greater participation in our community and a healthier lifestyle. To arrange for new service, please contact us directly at 307-413-4548 from 8am to 5pm 7 days/week or the START Offices at 307-733-4521 from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
Basic Eligibility Requirements
The ADA system is reserved for those unable to use the fixed route START bus system without assistance, due to a physical or mental disability, in order to reach destinations that would be covered by our bus system. Disability alone does not determine paratransit eligibility; the decision is based on the applicant's functional ability to use the fixed route bus and is not a medical decision. At the same time, unavailability of fixed route service by itself does not constitute eligibility for a person who could otherwise take the same trip on the bus, were the service available. START provides ADA paratransit service within 3/4 of a mile of regular non-commuter bus routes. The origin and destination of each trip must be within this service area.
People wishing to use START's ADA paratransit service must first complete an application to verify their eligibility (see link below).
Visitors from out of town with paratransit eligibility in their city of residence do not need to complete an application to use START's ADA service. However, they must provide proof of certification prior to their first ride.
ADA Bus Service Hours (Same Days and Hours as Fixed Route Service)
- December, January, February, March, June, July, August and September
5:15am to 11:30pm. - April, May, October and November
5:45am to 8:30pm.
START ADA Reservations
To schedule a trip, call START ADA Reservations at (307)413-4548, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., 365 days year-round. Reservations may be made up to fourteen (14) days in advance or until close of business (5 p.m.) the day before a trip.
Please do not assume a trip request is scheduled unless it is confirmed by the ADA team.
START ADA does not accept same-day trip requests (“will-call”) as a standard level of service.
Fees
- Town of Jackson: Free
- Teton Village and points in between: $3 per person each way ($125 season pass)
Winter & Summer Bus Passes
Winter/Spring season & Summer/Fall season passes are available for regular subscription riders for $125 per season.
Rider Information
All printed informational materials are made available in accessible formats upon request, for example, large print for individuals with low vision or audio for blind individuals, as well as accessible electronic formats.
