On this page you will find information for the Shed Hunt Opener in Jackson, Wyoming. Every Spring, thousands of people travel to western Wyoming for the chance of picking up shed antlers from moose, deer and elk. This page will help you register for the Jackson Police Motorcade, which gives participants first access to the public land bordering the National Elk Refuge on May 1st at 6am.

Shed Hunt Registration is closed.
Applicants will be emailed between April 16-April 29 to advise them of their position in the motorcade and the timeframe to arrive at the Teton County Fair Grounds parking lot for placement.
The Shed Hunt Motorcade line-up placements will be determined by RANDOM DRAW.
There is a $20 motorcade reservation fee due when submitting the motorcade application, and this fee is non-refundable. This includes, but is not limited to, all situations including duplicate entries, non-resident entries, and trip cancellations.
Only Wyoming residents may participate in the opening day(s) of shed antler collection and the motorcade. There will not be a second motorcade for non-residents, so non-residents do not need to make reservations.
Applications must be fully completed and submitted prior to the form closure date.
After completing and submitting your application, an automated message will be sent to the email address you provided to confirm your form was received. Please ensure you provide a valid email address.
+ As of July 1, 2023, only residents of Wyoming are allowed to collect shed antlers from May 1-7. The shed hunt starts at 6am on May 1.
+ All non-residents must purchase a conservation stamp prior to collecting shed antlers.
+ Per Wyoming Game and Fish statute WSS 23-1-107, a resident must:
“… live in an established, fixed and permanent home (domicile) in Wyoming for no less than one full year…Once a person has established residency…he or she has to live in Wyoming for at least 180 days total during the calendar year. “
+ To participate in the motorcade, applicants will be required to possess and produce a valid Wyoming driver’s license to verify their status as a Wyoming resident. No other forms of identification will be accepted.
+ All non-residents will be denied access to the motorcade, and any Wyoming residents taking non-residents with them in the motorcade will be removed from the motorcade.
+ Applications will be accessible February 18th and closed on April 15th. Anyone who did not apply prior to the available dates will not be able to reserve a spot in the motorcade.
+ Participant position in the motorcade will be determined by random draw. All cars will be led by a Jackson Police Department vehicle to the eastern border of the National Elk Refuge for the collection of shed antlers.
+ Participant line-up begins April 30 @8AM, however, each participant will be emailed their specific timeframe to arrive on that day to make the line-up go smoothly. No overnight parking will be allowed until line-up time.
+ The motorcade will depart from the Teton County Fairgrounds prior to 6am on May 1.
+ Participants who fail to arrive during their line-up timeframe will forfeit their spot in the motorcade.

+ The Teton County Fairgrounds will have horse stalls for rent. Please contact them to make arrangements.

+ Horses may be corralled by their trailer only if Fairground stalls are full and the owner provides their own pen to secure them in.
+ Horse owners must clean up after their livestock prior to departing for the shed hunt or will risk being cited for littering. All participants bringing horses should bring their branding paperwork and recent Coggins Test paperwork.
+ All feed brought for livestock must be weed-free per Teton County regulations.
