BACKGROUND
On June 3, Jackson’s Town Council unanimously voted to place an emergency, temporary moratorium on development of commercial buildings larger than 35,000 square feet. The moratorium includes buildings in the Downtown Core and Commercial Residential Zones.
Council is enacting this moratorium to allow time to review and amend the Town’s Land Development Regulations (LDRs) to address issues related to the size and scale of buildings and impacts on the environment, infrastructure, and traffic generation. This review is intended to be brief enough to minimize negative impacts on landowners and long enough to provide time to thoughtfully consider necessary LDR amendments and include genuine community engagement.

JUNE 17: Town Council considers review schedule
JULY 10: Design Review Committee (DRC) discusses and provides recommendations on potential amendments to the Land Development Regulations (LDRs) and Design Guidelines.
JULY 15 | 1:30PM: Joint Town Council and Planning Commission meeting to discuss and provide recommendations for amendments to the LDRs/Design Guidelines. Public comment will be taken.
JULY 24 | 12:00PM: 'Chat w/ Council' about Moratorium. Have an informal 'chat' with Councilmembers about the moratorium and review process.
AUGUST 7 | 6:00PM: Planning Commission public hearing to review edits/updates draft of proposed changes to LDRs/Design Guidelines and make final recommendations.
AUGUST 19 | 1:30PM: Town Council Workshop
AUGUST 21 + 22, if needed: Planning Commission Public Hearing -purpose is to review edited/updated draft of proposed changes to LDRs/Design Guidelines and make final recommendations.
AUGUST 28 | 5:30PM: Planning Commission Regular meeting (review and recommend edits/updates to LDRs)
